Best Of Angkor Wat and Tonle Sap Lake Tour

Private 2-day tour will take you to the most interesting site in Siem Reap including the expansive Angkor Wat, a UNESCO World Heritage Site built in the early 12th century and one of the Seven Wonders of the World, then onward to Angkor Thom (big city), Bayon (4 faces temple) and Ta Prohm. In Ta Prohm, get enchanted with the sight of the ruins taken over by tree roots, a demonstration of the awesome power of nature.On day 02, this tour also takes you into an enriching cultural immersion of Tonle Sap Lake and Kampong Phluk Village.

Learn more about the ecological and economic significance of Tonle Sap Lake to the Cambodians.  Catch a glimpse of the uncommon village life in Kampong Phluk and on return will visit The Artisan Angkor, the art school and drop at the Old Market free for shopping before taking you back to your hotel.

Itinerary

Day 01: Siem Reap - Angkor Archaeological Paradise Full-Day Tour

Pick up in Siem Reap in an air-conditioned vehicle from your hotel in Siem Reap.  We’ll then set off for the Angkor Wat Ticket Office where you’ll pay and get your Angkor Pass (required).  The first stop will be Angkor Wat, one of the best-preserved archaeological sites in Southeast Asia and considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World.  Stand in awe as you witness Angkor Wat’s colossal structures and meticulous architecture. Angkor Wat was built in the early 12th century, explore the beautiful complexity of Angkor Wat’s vastness from its intricately carved hallways, columns, and mysterious chambers to its grand courtyards. Then, continue with your guide to the city of Angkor Thom, which covers a sprawling area of 6 square miles (10 km sq).

Enter from the monumental South Gate over a picturesque causeway lined on either side by statues of demons and gods, each carrying a giant Naga, a deity in the form of a snake. Stop at the Bayon temple and witness for yourself why this mysterious temple, dubbed as the Temple of Smiling Faces, has become one of the favorite Angkor temples of most visitors.  Continue to the Terrace of the Elephants and Terrace of the Leper Kings, then onward to Ta Prohm. In Ta Prohm, get enchanted with the sight of the ruins taken over by tree roots, a demonstration of the awesome power of nature. Finally, heading back to your hotel after tours.

Day 02: Siem Reap - Excursion to Tonle Sap Lake and Kampong Phluk Floating Village

Pick up at your hotel from Siem Reap, then we will drive about 45-minutes to the countryside, upon arrival at the quay, we will board a local boat for a 1.5-hour ride to the Tonle Sap Lake.  Along the way to the lake, we will pass through Kompong Phluk. It’s a floating village and village on stilts which means ‘harbor of the tusks’. Observe firsthand how villagers go about their daily lives in this remote and extraordinary environment.  See colorful houses, schools, temples, churches and local government offices. Wonder at the sight of the green flooded forest (in rainy season) of the surrounding floodplain. 

We will continue the boat ride past the village until we reach the immense water scape of Tonle Sap Lake. Find out from your experienced guide telling you about Cambodia’s most important source of life-giving resources.Optional (rainy season only): a magical canoe ride into the dense mangrove forest. Just tell your guide if you want to take the short tour at an additional cost.Visit the Artisan school and Old Market before dropping off at your hotel in town.
